Acres Pet Rescue is a small, non-profit, all volunteer
rescue operating from Wescott Acres Luxury Pet Resort. Our
purpose is to rescue abandoned, abused and neglected dogs
and cats, give them veterinary treatment and support them
emotionally. They stay at Wescott Acres Luxury Pet Resort or
Foster Homes and receive loving care. We find homes where
they can live the rest of their lives as an important part
of a family. We emphasize the importance of spaying and
neutering pets to prevent pet over-population.
Our community has a pet over-population problem which can be
solved by spaying and neutering our pets. Over 20,000 pets
per year are euthanized in Columbia area shelters at this
time. We partner with Project Pet to save as many pets as
possible from ending up unwanted or in animal control
facilities.
In 2009, we rescued and found good homes for 396 dogs and
cats! We have found homes for over 400 cats and dogs in
2010! This takes teamwork! We welcome new volunteers to get
involved in our mission to save lives. Join our Adoption
Team and see how rewarding it is to help find quality homes
for homeless pets, or help us take photos of our new
rescues, assist in administrative tasks, etc! We encourage
you to get involved!
To adopt a pet, complete our on-line application for a dog
or a cat and email it to us. You may also print the adoption
application and bring it to our adoption event held each
Saturday and Sunday - details above. We will go over your
application, call your references, and may conduct a home
visit. Wescott Acres Pet Rescue wants to ensure that our
rescued dogs and cats are adopted into secure, loving homes
where they will be valued companions and treated like family
members.
FOR CAT/KITTEN adoptions, email Sue Solomon at
SolomonSusan@bellsouth.net . Our adoption fee for
kittens/cats is $100. All cats are feline aids/leukemia
negative and on flea/tick prevention. We allow
indoor/outdoor cat adoptions, as well as indoor-only cat
adoptions.
FOR DOG/PUPPY adoptions, email
WescottPets@WescottAcres.com . Our adoption fee for
puppys/dogs is $150.00. All dogs are kept current on
heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention, have all
age-appropriate vaccinations.
All pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and
microchipped prior to adoption. Some pets may be too small
or young for microchipping or spaying/neutering, but we will
do that for those pets when the time is right.
